A Tale of Sëmeres The Thief and Osirubis The Builder written and recorded by an unknown priest of the New God Aldimore.
Armeniá wasn't always this warm in the Summer, there was once time when seasons were as unpredictable as the storms that come with them. There would be several cycles of darkness before the world would receive a single flash of warm and light. But such was the way with Darkness and Light during their reign. Their children though sought to change that. Whether it was typical rebellion of child against parent, or an undying need to create order out of chaos we will never know but two heros, two Gods would change everything with one single act.
The Old Gods were not always the dark twisted beings we know of now. Rather they were once as Golden as the New Gods in appearance and heart. Some even go as far as to claim The Old Gods share more in common with Man than the New. Though this is considered the highest of blasphemy by most. This is why I shall be writing this True Tale under an anymonous name, to protect my family and reputation. This however doesn't mean that this is a false tale, as it is the most well accepted account...however it is left in the cob webs due to more recent Old God activities. Nevertheless it should be remembered who crafted Excaliber and who bent the Universe to Order so that life may not only live, but prosper.
Our tale begins with a cold dark cycle, the Old Gods living in similar conditions to common folk during a fierce winter. However this cold was never ending, Darkness was in a foul mood with his brother once again. The Old Gods were growing tired of thr cold, but none dared to chalenge the will of their creator...none but two. Sëmeres had a will like no other, considered wild and rash he was a young outcast living on the out most part of the Old God society. Then there was Osirubis, considered the ideal young Old God, you bright and obedient, he possessed only one flaw...a friendship with Sëmeres.
The two polar opposites found in each other the perfect friendship. To this day twice an Age one can spot two shooting stars, one red the other white, dancing across the sky. This is the creation of the two friends and is meant to represent their flight from the heavens to escape Darkness and Light. Osirubis and Sëmeres were sitting in the dark when Osirubis started to complain with the illogical way their fathers ran the verse. He complained that the world was too extreme, either in Light or Dark. And that is when Sëmeres spoke the fatal words, at the time meant only to be a phrase to shut his friend up. "Do something about it then." Unfortunately for the two of them Osirubis was smart enough to come up with a plan and Sëmeres brave enough to go through with it.
Using ancient magic the two managed to use the frozen wood of Armeniá to create a vessel, no larger than a skiff but light and swift enough to reach the heavens. They used dirt and mud to hide their golden shine and began their journey. It is a common misconception that this quest was completed in a short amount of time, rather it went on for a long time. The two young adventures had never been to the Heavens yet and thus got lost several times. However they eventually did find Darkness and Light...fighting no less. Under the cover of the massive brawl Sëmeres was able to enter their minds and from there record the sacred knowledge of creation. Upon their retreat though Sëmeres shouted out to them, boasting about their triumph...much to Osirubis's dismay. And so the chase began.
The ship flew across the sky as both Darkness and Light raced after them, destroying everything in their wake. Then they stopped...Osirubis rejoiced, saying that his vessel has outsped the creators...but Sëmeres knew better and he prepared his Silver Bow...seeing Sëmeres ready his weapon Osirubis steadied his spear. Suddenly out of the dark midnight came a ferocious roar of thunder and with it a Beast made of Fire. It had four heads, and within each head an unatiral amount of sharp teeth. It's wings were made of shadows a dark mist. It stood up and as it did the small skiff shook roughly almost throwing the two into the void. Sëmeres leveled his bow and fired arrow after arrow at the foul creation whose sole purpose was to kill them. Osirubis leveled his spear and gave it a mighty thrust striking the beast in its chest. Yet it fought on, its sole purpose was to kill, and it refused to die before achieving its goal. The battle raged on for hours until finally Osirubis gave the killing thrust, taking a silver arrow of Sëmeres to its skull.
Finally with the battle over Osirubis and Sëmeres were able to return to their people and with the knowledge obtained by their quest they bent Darkness and Light to their will and created order out of chaos. Thus ends the tale of The Creation Quest, but not the tale of the two Old Gods. In their lifetime they would go on many more adventures and their friendship would last Ages. This is not a pro-Osirubis stance, I am fully aware of what he did and how horrid it was. This is simply a reminder of not what he is, but what he was.
