War is a common thing in this world and may take place between players, Non-Player Factions, and Players and Non-Player Factions. It is therfore important to understand how it works in the sim. Several factors go into what the results of combat will be, traits, learned skills, weapons and number of combatants. Whether it's single combat or warfare between two hosts they all follow this system.
The attacker states his plan of attack and includes his number of soldiers as well as any other information that might be helpful. The defender has 24hrs to respond with their reaction. If they do not respond it will be considered a crushing victory for the attackers. If a player believes he will be away for longer than 24hrs and wants to protect their holdings they may post about established defensive and give the Admin or Mods permission to fight on their behalf.
Both attackers and defenders have certain advantages. Defenders may respond and see the Attackers plan, however they are also limited in their response as often times they can only posses a limited defense having not known the attack is coming.
After both parties post the Admin or Mod will post the results of the initial clash. This process will continue until and combatant wins or another retreats. See the example below.
Attacker
*8 Gwent Raider Ships sail up to the coastal city of Dirk in the dead of night. The raiders have their orders no noise or battle cries are to be made until they enter the city. The force numbers 700 Raiders, 200 Beserkers and 30 Bear Warriors.*
Defender
*As soon as they are noticed a rider is sent out to the nearby Castle Odi to request support from Lord Broke and his garrison. Our Guards will attempt to close the port wall gates before they reach them, women and children are sent to the keep and the armory is opened to arm the men. We have a total of 200 Guards and 2,000 militia.*
Admin/Mod
*The Gwent Forces rush upon the harbour in a great furry slaying many unprepared guards. However several guards have formed small pockets of defensive in the store houses of the harbour. The Guards reach the Gates en masse around the same time the Raiders do and a battle for the gates begins. Men of the city are being armed but it is a long process and thus Dirk only has 400 Militia available. Gwent losses: 35 Raiders, Dirk losses: 90 Citizens, 50 Guards.*
^this would continue until one side pulls back and/or the other wins.
