234 TA, The following record is written by Father Cnut of the Armanian Order of the 2nd Age. It has been translated and published by Scholar Jacob of the 3rd Age and the Kingdom of Elador. The below is the earliest known documentation of The First Era, though it is not considered history due to there being to way to verify it's legitimacy. As well as the fact that despite this being the most accepted account many other cultures and nations maintain their own legends and stories about the first creation. However I hope you learn much from the below document, as I have. Even if it is not true you will find many lessons to be leared from it.
In the begining there was only Darkness. The sound of silence ruled the verse unbending. Then it happened The First Light was born out of the verse's essential need to be filled. The Darkness allowed this new creation to flourish with the understanding that it would remain the dominant of the two, however this fragile peace would not last. The First Light repulsed of the sound of silence created The First Song and with it the night was filled with billions of stars. This Darkness viewed was a chalenge to his own authority, thus he attempted to destroy the Lights new creations, and when The Light defended them The First Swords were drawn. The Shadow Blade and the Fire Blade clashed as both Night and Day sought to end each other.
The Battle lasted many cycles though eventually blood was spilt. Both Darkness and Light brought their blades down upon each other opening of their flesh and when their blood touched the verse, Armeniá was created. Suprised by the spontaneous creation both Night and Day found themselves unable to continue their fight and so the peace was created. This peace would last until the End Days when Armeniá is destroyed and the final battle would begin. However this does not mean the conflict would end, through out the Ages both would seek to outdo a each other in a rivalry that would cause more bloodshed than thousands of wars combined.
Upon the creation of Armeniá and the truce both Light and Dark began experimenting with creation. Darkness created the first oceans and seas while Light filled them with life, an abundance of creatures and plants. Darkness shaped Armaniá creating the Sky, Mountains, Lakes and Deserts, while Light populated it with living beasts and plants. Then they turned their attention to a new creation, something grand. They sought to create a legacy that would last until the End of Times and thus The first God's were created, the children of Day and Night. They are known known to us as The Old Gods, they were the first inhabitants of Armeniá. They had a man-like appearance except for being entirely golden, from their hair to their skin one could see light glisten and shine. Numbering in the thousands the Old Gods lived in Armeniá throughout The early parts of the First Age.
It was during what would become known as the Birth Period of The First Age that the Old Gods would rise to the status of diety and forever abandon the shackles of mortality. The Great Hero known as Sëmeres The Thief and Osirubis The Builder created The Silver Ship that allowed them to venture to the Heavens and steal the Breath of Life and the Song of Creation from Night and Day. From there they returned to their people and shared their new knowledge allowing the Elder Gods to obtain new authority over the Universe. However this would come at a great cost Darkness angered at the theft cursed the Old Gods turning their skin black and wretched. The Elder Gods were imprisoned in a place known as the Nekro. A dark dimension crafted by Night for the sole purpose of imprisoning them. After this incident both Dark and Light swore off creation of life for all eternity and decided the universe was complete as it was. And so the Old Gods remained imprisoned for 3,000 cycles...until the unthinkable happened.
The Elder God Hero Osirubis crafted a cunning plan, and he was allowed 3,000 cycles for him to put it into place. A second hero Morgon The Warrior was crafted a sword made from the very darkness that imprisoned them. And using the sword he was able to tear a hole in their prison. The Elder God's rushed fourth upon the universe in a great fury. Night and Day donned their armor and went to meet them fully prepared to destroy their creation...but then it happened. To this day no Scholar Mage, Magician, Witch or Elder can say what happened but Night and Day were stripped of their powers. They became empty entities, remaining in place but unable to do anything more than whisper in the ears of mortals such as us. However we know now that their whispers had just as much influence as the shout of any God, yet their ability to create was stripped from them. And thus it was the Old God's turn to imprison their parents, chaining them to the cycles we now know today as Night and Day.
So the Old Gods came to rule the world and for many cycles there was peace until their children rose against them. Night and Day had been busy their whispers heard clearly by the children of The Elder Gods now known as The New Gods. Convinced that the Elder Gods were undeserving of their power the New Gods would come to wage war against their dark skin parents in what would become known as The Sky War. But that is a different story, this was simply written to inform the races of how the world came into being and how Night and Day became nothing more than whispers. I bid thee good day, and I pray thee safe travels as well.
