The Old God's had succeeded in their mission against Night and Day bounding them to the cycles. Shaping their flesh to create their heavenly kingdom. However both Darkness and Light refused to be contained, although their powers had been ripped from them they still had their voice. And their whispers would prove to be just as powerful as both Elder and New Gods shouts.
As time went on the Old God's ruled over Armeniá in a peaceful bliss, there was no death during this time and the mortal beasts were able to live hundreds of years. However all was not as it seemed. The Old Gods had produced numerous children who inherited their parents powers, but not their cursed dark appearance. On the contrary their children were as Golden as they themselves had been before they went to war with Night and Day. That is not the only way they differed from their parents, unlike the Old Gods they refused to live among the heavens, rather they made their homes on Armeniá. They fealt they had a deeper connection to the world than their parents and that they were it's true guardians.
It was during this separation of living among parents and children that the whispers of Light and Darkness filled the ears of the New Gods. Their parents were unworthy of their position, it was time for a new era of rulers over the world. Creation was still unfinished and it was their destiny to fill the void with life. It was a New God named Ätruld who broke the will of the Old Gods and created the first of the Elder Races, The Elves. Created in the image of themselves as well as Night Day. She created two species, Dark Elves and High Elves. A pair of each kind, a male and a female.
The Male and Female High Elves were named Aragorn and Elador, the Dark Elves, Silus and Cynthia. They were hidden from the Old Gods for several cycles in a deep cave in the earth, until Cynthia ventured out one day and discovered the surface world. The Elves soon followed her and we're amazed by the beauty of the world. Though it was then The Old Gods discovered their creation. Seeking to destroy them The Old Gods sent down a great Lighting Bolt from the sky, the Elves death seemed sealed...that is until Ätruld intervened. Throwing herself between the bolt and the Elves she sacrificed herself so they could live. Upon her death the Great War began and Children of the Old Gods marched on their heavenly kingdom to protect their new creations.
The Elves were then hidden once again, it is though that during this time the first magic practiced by the Elder Races took place. That deep in their dark underground hiding place they wished to see the surface world again. They started singing about the wonder world above, and soon the entire cave erupted with life and light. Moss and flowers of all sorts sprung up from the rocky floor. The Elves would remain hidden throughout the war, only surfacing once again when the Young Gods defeated their parents.
The New Gods marched on the Heavenly Castle of the Old Gods to protect the Elves. Their armies bolstered by their possession of The Shadow and Fire Swords. As the two forces clashed the Old Gods led by Morgon and the New Gods Aegnir husband to the slain Ätruld. The New Gods host held the slight numerical advantage as well as the two powerful swords, discovered after a mysterious whisper led them to the hidden blades.
It is said that when the two armies clashed for a brief second all stars in the sky blackened. Gods clashed and blood rained from the heavens. It was during this battle Aegnir The Great, God of Revenge, Duels, and Fury struck down Morgon God of Steel and Iron. Without their commander Sëmeres and Osirubis of the Old Gods were forced to rally their remaining warriors and retreat from the heavens. The day had been won by the New Gods and the Elves were safe, for now. However the war was far from over.
Osirubis and his brother Osmorand of the Old Gods knew that their people were on the verge of defeat. Fearing for what their children would do to them they turned to the shadow prison used by Darkness and Light to imprison them so long ago. Together they managed to turn their former prison into a place of refuge that allowed them to safely hide from their children until they were strong enough to take back their home. They would remain there the Second Age when they would return and wage war on the New Gods and their creations. But at least for now there was peace, throughout the remainder of the First Age the New Gods would rule over Armeniá and create the 3 other Elder Races.
It should be noted that the Elder Gods did not hate the mortal creations of the Young Gods. Rather they feared them, while life itself was safe, the creation of life such as Men, Orcs, Elves and Dwarves came risks. They themselves were created by Night and Day and they came to overthrow their creators. They saw the same risks in the mortals. However it would be their own kind who turned against them. I suppose there is some sort of lesson in that. Unfortunately this is where I end the tale, it is late and my bones ache. I wish you all a goodnight.
